Like many of us you will hopefully be opening your homes to Ukrainian refugees.

Here in the United Kingdom our government is to be rolling out a scheme called “The Homes for Ukraine scheme” and although the reported financial incentive is welcome, I am sure that many of us would gladly be Ukrainian sponsors for free!

Watching scenes on our televisions that many of us believed we would never see in our lifetime has moved us all.

But, there is a harsh reality in becoming a host…..the language!

We all want to make these poor Ukrainian refugees feel welcome and offer some form of familiarity to them, while they themselves come to adapt to a new country and new surroundings, whilst miles apart from their family and loved ones.

So, the very least we could do is offer to communicate in some of their native language and in some instances where there is a language barrier it may actually be required, just to get your point or offering across.
